Let’s be honest — we’ve all seen headlines about leadership failures in the Church, and it’s heartbreaking. That’s not how it’s supposed to be. God actually gives us a clear picture in the Bible of how His Church should be led.
In the book of Acts, Paul planted churches and then made sure to circle back and help set up strong, trustworthy leadership by appointing elders.
“And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.” — Acts 14:23
Right now, Cory is leading the church with support, guidance, and accountability from experienced pastoral coaches through Converge, Venture Church Network, and an external leadership board. Eventually, that board will be replaced with a local team of elders raised up from within our church family.
We believe churches are healthiest when they're led by a team — not just one person — made up of biblically qualified leaders, like the kind of leaders described in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
Right now, our future elder team is going through a solid process of learning, growing, and being equipped — both in what they believe and how they lead — with support from the leadership networks and oversight we mentioned earlier.
At Branches Church, we believe leadership in the church should look like this: a team of people who genuinely love Jesus, care deeply about others — especially those outside the faith — and lead in a way that helps the whole church stay focused on what matters.
In the Bible, elders are called to be hospitable — not just nice, but open-hearted and welcoming to those who don’t yet know Jesus. Great leaders model a life on mission, and they help the church do the same by how they live and lead.
Our vision is simple and central to everything we do:Love God. Love people. Build a longer table.
To carry that out, Branches Church is built on three key pillars:
Growing towards God
Growing towards community
Growing towards purpose
